I have endeavoured to take seriously the exaggerated claims of crowdsourcing proponents and, as such, there is a distinct possibility that my research takes on the character of Chicken Little – the sky is not actually falling, the industrial era is not coming to an end within the next year, and it is too soon to believe a transition to international socialism is today getting its start online. Perhaps a better response would be an outright dismissal of the claims made by crowdsourcing proponents; business bestsellers, after all, generally amount to very little, and analysis of texts that are sold alongside ridiculous titles like Who Moved My Cheese? (Johnson, 1998), or The Secret (Byrne, 2006), may be quite unnecessary.
